Obesity Predictions

Figures from the government body C.D.C. (Center for Disease Control) claim 66 percent of adults are either obese or overweight.

In another study, author Dr. Youfa Wang of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore says, “If current overweight and obesity trends continue, 86 percent of Americans could be overweight or obese by the year 2030.”

Even more troubling, the authors note, "By 2048, all American adults would become overweight or obese."

Will the Predictions Come True?

Do I think these predictions will come true? I am pretty sure they won't. However, what it reveals is that there has been a strong and clear trend for obesity the last 50 years and that the trend is spiking upwards.

I don't think we will reach those numbers because we are going to fight back and lose the pounds. American citizens are getting to the tipping point where they are really looking for healthy changes. It is awesome to see soda machines being taken out of schools, fast food becoming healthier, and infrastructure for healthy living being developed. Over time, you can expect huge changes in the food industry. Unhealthy foods will become a thing of the past as consumers refuse to buy these items.
